John Pickford died from Pulmonary TB.  John's Pension Record shows the TB was not the result of active service.
He was admitted to a sanatorium and received a Pension.  No records seem to confirm the TB attributable or aggravated by service. Illness commenced prior to service, but developed into TB.  I've asked IFCP if this may mean commenced.

Private 2945 John Pickford (Bon Audenshaw 13/06/1891) was a Labourer when he enlisted for General Service in 11th Battalion at Ashton on 11 August 1914.  John was discharged from 11th Battalion at Grantham on 14 April 1915. He received a pension for TB that had developed from pre-enlistment Pleurisy during service.
John Pickford died from Pulmonary TB commencing in service on 14 January 1919, aged 27/28.  The only DC that corresponds with his age is a man who died at Blandford in Dorset Q1 1919 5a/393.  Buried Tarrant Crawford Churchyard, 18 January 1919.  John was the son of Matthew and  Martha (Deceased)Pickford of 79 Hope Street, Hurst. John's elder brother, Thomas, was awarded the DCM with 9th Bttn at Gallipoli.  He was later killed in Flanders with 1/5th KLR on 31/07/1917. http://www.themenbehindthemedals.org.uk/index.asp?page=full&mwsquery=(%7BPerson%20identity%7D=%7BPickford,%20T%7D)

DC confirms TB as cause of death.  IFCP will take the case forward as TB developed due to War Service.
