Tim Bell

Pte had been a Window Cleaner when he enlisted in 23rd (Bantams) Bttn on 28/11/1914.  Trained IV Pln. He was 5' ½" tall and trained with the Bttn at Morecambe and Masham. John was Admitted to Heaton Park Hosp on 11/9/1915 and transferred to 2nd Western Gen Hosp 11 days later.  He was posted to 27th Reserve Bttn on 12/8/1915.
John was discharged unfit from D Coy of 27th Bttn at Southport on 6/4/1916. In 1916 John received a Pension for Deafness & Chronic Bronchitis attributable and a result of camp life in ordinary military service. This award was reversed in 1917, when DGAMS stated the Bronchitis was neither aggravated nor attributable.
John died from acute Lobar Pneumonia and Cardiac Failure contracted or commencing or aggravated by Active Service on 6/12/1917.
Widow Harriet and 3 children at 18 Ruby St, Salford received a Pension.

Lobar Pneumonia is a short term disease.  It's challenging that this commenced on Active Service 8 months earlier. Bronchitis may also be a cause of death. Hold for DC. Relationship not proven.
