Pte 14888 Joseph William Haigh
Pte Haigh had been a Greengrocer / Hawker when he enlisted in 24th (Oldham Comrades) Bttn on 2/1/1915.  He was transferred to 27th Reserve Bttn on 12/8/1915 and solely served at Home.
Joseph was discharged unfit at Prees Heath, with a Pension on 7/12/1915.  He had TB deptermined on Appeal as aggravated by exposure on active service.
Joseph died at home from Pulmonary TB due to Active Service in 1/5/1916, aged 36. Reg Oldham Q2 1916 8d/741. Royton cemetery.50.4736.
Widow Clara and six surviving children received a Pension at 32 Cromwell St, Oldham.

We need to see if there is a headstone on Joseph Haigh's grave in Royton Cemetery and review the condition of any inscription.

The burial had no marking.  Royton RBL have added a stone marker & a temporary plaque with Joseph's service details.
