Pte 2854 Edward Christian
Pte Christian had been a Painter / Packer when he enlisted in 3rd Bttn on 27/8/1914.  He had previously served 3 years in the Regiment. Edward was posted to the BEF with 2nd Bttn on 14/4/1915 and admitted to Hosp in Rouen with TB on 16/4/1915. He was evacuated Home on 23/4/1915 and admitted to Hosp for 4 days in Wandsworth, with TB.
Discharged unfit on 17/6/1915. He received a pension for the TB, as aggravated service and originating in Cleethorpes in December 1914.  The pension review in May 1916 found continuing TB.
Edward died from TB at Baguley Sanitorium on 4/8/1916. He is buried in Phillips Park.A.C.729
age 32
Mother Mrs Jane Hoyle received a Pension at 10 Dixon St, Ancoats. BWM & VM returned.

Edward Christian's burial at Phillips Park was adopted by CWGC today.  He has a legible headstone but the plot needs tidying up.
