I've had a look in the Guardian and it just repeats the list.

MMs usually appear in the LG about 3 months after the deed.most of them who were fighting on the western front,would have recieved their MM ribbon 7/8 weeks after the deed,he could be in your local paper

Does anyone know if they might have been recorded in the Guardian, being a Manchester paper in those days. The archives are online, for a subscription, but there is a free 24hour inroductory offer.

 thank you all,  i have tried the local papers with no joy, and with the mm only being awarded in 1916 , in some cases the deed could have taken place in 1915
and the powers that be were playing catch up due to the way the war was going  in june 1916, so i am happy with the info i have and if anything else turns up great, so once again thank you all for your input.  ;D regards tony
