Pte 276976 Daniel McHenry

Pte McHenry had been a Dock Labourer when he enlisted in the KLR, 11656, on 28/8/1914.  He joined the BEF with 1st KLR on 1/5/1915 .  He had GSW Buttock 27/9/1915 & Bayonet wound L foot 26/9/1915.  Daniel returned Home on 30/9/1915. He was transferred to 1/7th Manchesters on 13/2/1916 and joined the MEF in Egypt on 17/2/1916-2/5/1917, serving with the BEF from 3/5/1917.  Daniel was admitted to Hosp in France with Myalgia and returned Home again on 2/6/1917 where he was admitted to Hosp in Birmingham to 14/8/1917, with VDH.  He was then transferred to Hosp in Woldingham for 10 days to 20/9/1917.
Daniel was discharged from 5th R Bttn with SWB and pension on 28/11/1917, aged 34. He received a pension for VDH commencing on Peronne in March 1917. VDH was caused by active service conditions.
Daniel died in Royal Southern Hospital. Toxteth Park; from Aortic Regurgitation contracted & commencing while on active service, on 13/9/1918, aged 34.  He was buried in L/Pool Allerton Cem on 18/9/1918 22/409. Reg Toxteth Park Q3 1918 8d/190.
May Grice was the Governess for William’s 3 sons (B 1907-13). 11 William St, L/Pool. His wife has been Louise, 173 Beaufort St, L/Pool.

PaulC has confirmed there is no headstone on Daniel McHenry's grave in Liverpool Allerton. We have possible family contact.
