I am trying to trace my Grandfathers Service record.
William Henry Hill born 1882 in India. Manchester Regiment. Regiment No: 34143. Injured in battle at Lake Dorian, Salonica 1917.
No luck so far on Ancestry web site.

Also my Great Grandfather (Walter) John Hill born 1848 in Liverpool. Served in the Hussars in India around 1880 and South Africa around 1886.

Hi yvcain and a Warm Welcome to The Forum  ;D

As you may know 30/40% of WW1 service records were lost in the German bombing of London in 1940, so it may not be found, however Ancestry have not yet uploaded all the records, so there is still hope!

Just wondered if you had come across this useful link for Families from India

http://indiafamily.bl.uk/UI/Home.aspx

Kind regards
Wendi  :)
