Pte ‘13494’ James Arthur Davenport – 13th Bn & RAMC ‘133266’

James Davenport had been a hydraulic packer when he enlisted in 13th Bn on 3 November 1914.  He disembarked in France on 07/05/1915 and later served in Salonika. James was hospitalised with DAH from March 1916. Evacuated home, James was posted to Depot on 18/05/1916.  He was transferred to home postings with 3rd Bn on 23 June 1916, 2nd Garrison Bn Lincs Regiment '27935' on 12 August 1916 and RAMC on 6 October 1917.  James was discharged with a SWB and pension for 100% disability due to pulmonary TB on 19 December 1918.
James Davenport died at his home from pulmonary TB due to service on 4 June 1921.  The husband on Sarah Ann Davenport of 36 Wenlock Street, Chester Road, Hulme, Manchester.  The couple had eight living children. James was buried in Manchester (Southern) Cemetery on 10 June 1921. Consecrated plot D.452
