Pte 41600 Christopher Baldwin

Pte Baldwin had been a weaver when he enlisted in the E Lancs, 3776 on 28/5/1915, aged 20y 6m. He was posted to BEF on 1/10/1916 as 11th E Lancs, but joining 30th IBD.  Christopher was transferred to 18th Manchesters on 22/10/1916 and allocated the number 41600 (Noted as out of sequence with 43000 series allocated on 1st September).  He joined 18th Bttn in the Field on 24/10/1916.
Christopher was admitted to FA sick on 5/12/1916.  TB was diagnosed and he returned home on 7/1/1917. Christopher was discharged unfit on 7/6/1917, aged 24y 171 days. He received a Pension for Tubercle of Lung "Aggravated by active service." Due to Exposure.
Christopher died from disease on 11/2/1919.  Reg Blackburn Q1 1919. 8e/669.
His mother Annie received a Pension, 6 Bowers St, Mill Hill, Blackburn, Lancs.  Pte Baldwin had been a Weaver.

DC confirms Christopher Baldwin died from Phthisis TB at his parents' home. TB was aggravated by service.  Joiners labourer. Ex Private 18th Manchester Regiment.

Christopher Baldwin's commemoration in the UKBOR was accepted today.  In due course his burial at Pleasington Priory should be accepted as a War Grave.  I don't know if we have a burial record or whether there is a private memorial on the plot.
