Pte Oldland (born 24-10-1879) had been a gas stoker and Reservist when he volunteerd for 17th Bttn on 14/4/1915. He was a veteran of the Boer War with KSA & QSA Medals with 6th Lancs Fusils from 28/1/1899. Previous service with KORL and 1st Lancs Fusils. George was immedialtley posted to 6th Bttn and embodied for overseas service on the day of enlistment.
George served at Home near and was discharged unfit with Pension on Appeal & SWB from 6th manchesters, No 4 supernumery coy on 19/11/1915. He had TB prior to enlistment, but this was aggravated by service.
George died at home from Pulmonary TB aggravated by active service on 20-3-1919, aged 40
