Tim Bell

Pte McKeown enlisted in 7th Btt on 14/9/1914, having served 5 yrs with 4th VB.  He embodied on 24/9/1914. He did not serve overseas and is assumed to have trained with 2/7th Bttn.
James was discharged unfit at Colchester, with SWB on 28/4/1916. He had Pulmonary TB, "...aggravated by service". Pension reviews in subsequent years found no TB.
James died, cause n/k on 18/12/1919, aged 35. Reg Chorlton Q4 1919 8c/865. Burial n/k/ RC?
Wife "Unworthy", although she had had died. Guardian for daughter, Clara, received pension Sarah Ann Baker, Antique Cottage, Pitsee, Nr Olham. Also William Hibbert as Guardian for Margaret, Bradford R, Ancoates.
Son of Mary Elizabeth McKeown of 76 Union St, Greenheys.
Cause of death as TB unconfirmed. HOLD
