Sgt 22896 Ernest Royle

Tim Bell

Sgt Royle (Born 1879) had been a shoe maker before he enlisted in 23rd Bttn on 22/5/1915, aged 35y 6m.  Ernest was 5' 1 ¾ ".so treated as a Bantam. He became Sgt on 22/5/1915 and served overseas from 29/1/1916.
Ernest was treated for heart conditions (VDH) from 28/12/1916.  He was transferred Home on 7/2/1917.   He was treated in 2nd Western Gen Hosp in Manchester 9/1/1917-5/2/1917 with VDH. Ernest was discharged with SWB and Pension on 26/2/1917. The VDH had been aggravated by Active Service (PR). 
Ernest died on 2/9/1919, aged 40. Cause n/k
Widow Florence Ethel and 4 children born 1901-12.  4 Narbuth St, Halliwell Ln, Cheetham Hill.  They received a Pension.
Almost certain VDH but HOLD
buried southern cemetery.K.NC.1680

Ernest Royle died from valvular disease of the heart, mitral & aortic and pleurisy. 4 Marbutt St, Cheetham. Master shoemaker.

Ernest Royle's burial was accepted on Saturday 6 April. The commemoration is complete, with the Private Memorial.
