Pte 16615 George Houghton

Tim Bell

Pte Houghton (Born 1879) enlisted on 12/1/1915, aged 37y 10m and was posted to 14th Bttn.  He had previously served in 4th Militia Bttn.
George was discharged sick from Lichfield Camp on 4/6/1915.  He had Chronic Bronchitis aggravated by service.  This is only stated in the WFA Cards. THe service and pension records don't record the condition.
George died on 9/4/1919, aged 40 cause n/k.
Widow Kate / Kathleen, 38 St Mary's Terr, Pendlebury. Later 28 King St, Swinton. George had been a Colliery Labourer.
