Pte 6080 Edward Seddon

Tim Bell

Pte Seddon (Born 1876) enlisted on 16/9/1914, He served with 13th Bttn in France 7/9/1915-29/10/1915 and Salonika 28/10/1915-5/8/1916. He returned Home on 18/8/1916. Class P 16/12/1916 (nb 9311 Albert Hurst also Class P 8/1/1917 – Our Last Pal)
Edward was discharged unfit 13/12/1917. He received a Pension for Malaria contracted on active service in Macedonia.
Edward died on 20/11/1919, from Chronic Bronchitis & Malaria with Sarcoma of Humerus. Aged 43. Reg Salford Q4 1919 8d/158.
Widow Jane. 4 children 1903-07.  9 Castle St, Salford.

Edward was buried at Weaste Cemetery on 27/11/1919.  Dissenters 176.J

We need to see if there is a headstone on Edward Seddon's grave in Weaste and review the condition of any inscription.

Edward Seddon's commemoration was approved by CWGC today. He now has an entry in UKBOR, pending acceptance of his burial at Weaste Cemetery, where he requires a new headstone.
