Pte 48196 Hedley Richardson

Tim Bell

Pte Richardson had been a Leather Merchant  when he Attested on 12/12/1915. Previous service with Ashton Vols. Hedley was mobilised to 3rd Bttn on 22/1/1917 and joined the 12th Bttn with BEF 12/4/1917. He was wounded L arm in May 1917 and returned Home with Influenza on 4/8/1917. Posted 3rd Bttn 22/11/1917 and BEF 10/4/1918. 12th Bttn. Wounded again GSW hand 14/18/1918.  Home 9/10/1918. In March 1919 he started suffering illness. Attributable to Service.
Hedley was discharged from 3rd Bttn at Springfield Hosp, Tooting on 8/5/1919.  He had Neurasthenia attrib to service. The August 1919 Pension Review still only found Neurasthenia.
Hedley died on 8/11/1919. The cause was Nephrites or kidney disease.
