Pension Card says he died from disease.  Son of Henry Cooper, 5 Leak St, Collyhurst. Sister Louisa.  Star Roll says "Deceased 2/12/1918" firmly indicating Fredk had not been discharged. Disembarked France  12th Bttn 16/7/1915.
Need DC to show Fredk was still serving. Hold

Frederick Cooper served overseas with 12th Bn from 16/07/1915 when he was appointed L/Cpl. He was admitted to 51st Fd Amb suffering JCT? (GSW?) to his legs and face on 09/05/1917 and transferred to 53 CCS on 11/05/1917. Returning home and posted to 4th Bn, Frederick reverted to Pte.  He died from disease in a Grimsby Hospital on 02/12/1918, aged 25.  He is buried in Southern Cemetery, Consecrated plot S.1354.  The son of Henry and the late Mary Ellen Cooper of 5 Leak Street, Collyhurst, Manchester. Frederick had been employed as a biscuit maker machine hand in 1911.
Effects states he died in Grimsby Hospital, where 4th Bn were stationed at the time.  The burial record states occupation as Soldier and the Star Roll states Deceased (not discharged) so records indicate Frederick was still serving and should be commemorated if the DC confirms occupation as Soldier.

We need to review the inscription on Frederick Cooper's grave at Southern Cemetery.

Frederick has a damaged inscription on his family headstone.
A new gallipoli style marker would be erected.

Frederick Cooper's commemoration was approved by CWGC today. He now has an entry in UKBOR, pending acceptance of his burial at Southern Cemetery, where a new pedastal headstone should be erected on the family plot.
