L/Cpl 14142 George Ernest Taylor

Pte Taylor (Born Q2 1897) enlisted in 24th Bttn on 10/11/1914 aged 19y 263d (SR). Promoted Cpl the next day he requested to revert to Pte on 1/11/1915.  He arrived in  France on 9/11/1915(MIC).  Appointed L/Cpl  15/4/1917. Transferred to Reserve 22/2/1919, age 25(SR).  Pension for 80% Disab, due to Tubercle to Lung attributable to service. (SR) 46 Crystal Rd, S Shore, Blackpool. George died on 20/10/1920, aged 23(PIC). Son of Samuel & Catherine Taylor. Reg Fylde 8e 731.  Buried St Catherine's, Barton Upon Irwell 23/10/1920.(BR) Plot 219
Need DC to verify if cause of death was TB. Ordered.

According to ,,Cotton Town Comrades" George Taylor was a Signaller, 3Pl, A Coy. He was a Fitter in civilian life and his home address was 83 Manchester St, Oldham.

We need to see if there is a headstone on George Taylor's grave in St Catherine's Barton and review the condition of an inscription.

George Taylor's commemoration was approved by CWGC today. He now has an entry in UKBOR, pending acceptance of his burial at St Catherine's, Barton. I No evidence of current memorial.
