Pte 979 John Sweeney
« on: December 22, 2019, 02:23:18 PM »
Pte Sweeney enlisted 20/10/1908 and joined 2nd Bttn with  the BEF on 4/1/1915.
John was discharged with wounds on 24/7/1916. He died from Phyitis and Hemiplegia on 27/7/1920. Registered Ashton 8d/433.  His widow Mary Ann was refused  a Pension, 27 Vaudry St, Stalybridge.  They had married after discharge.
It’s possible Hemiplegia was related to the wounds, but details haven’t been found.
Following one Platoon and everything around them....

Ancestry has a transcribed burial record for him at Stalybridge (St. Peter) Churchyard.
