Pte Ellis enlisted on  10/8/1914.  He disembarked overseas on 16/2/1915 and served with 2nd, 19th, 23rd & 12th Bttns. He was discharged with SWB and Pension on 14/8/1918 aged 35 – with GSW L Foot.  John died on 9/7/1920 cause unspecified. His Widow received a Pension. 5 Green St, Openshaw.
