discharged with chronic bronchitis,asthma+rheumatism
died 12-6-1920
age 56
buried Philips park cemetery.L.NC.1
on 1st January 1916,john was declared unfit while serving in france,for some reason,he wasn't sent home for discharge,instead,he was posted to a isolation hospital as a batman/servant,he later transferred to another hospital doing the same job,on 15th august 1917,he was posted to the 4th stationary hospital at st.omer as the personal servant to Lt/colonel edgar,thomas inkson.RAMC,VC,DSO

John's widow was Mary Ellen Gray. She was refused a pension because the cause of death (Hemilplegia & Cardiac Failure) was contracted after discharge.
