We've been going to Belton for years and always knew that the main park was a camp in ww1,
didn't know that the other side of the road (where the golf course and wood are) was also part
of the camp when it was taken over by the MGC.
Good food in the club house :)

Great research Neil I was base in Grantham for two years back in the 1990s. The two newsletter the 16th Bn produced( The Pull Through) where done at  Grantham.

When I go to the Archives I'll see if they have the
copies of the newsletter.
My sister did her basic training there when it was
still RAF Spitalgate. I think the RAF left in about
1975 then the army took it over.

Great photos again. The steam laundry image is outstanding. Can you make out the Bttn Number on the original image? Wishful thinking, but may be 2nd City.

I can't see but this is another photo of the
17th Bn with the steam shop in the back ground.
I've had a look at the other 17th pictures I've got
but can't tie up any of the faces.
