I have researched my father's Army records and obtained war diaries covering his service firstly in the Rifle Brigade, and then from 1943 in the Manchesters. I know that D Company landed at Ostend on 16th October 1944 but the gentleman who obtained copies of the war diaries for me said 'Note – sheets 1-5 of the November 1944 diary missing from original diary. This covers the period 1-10 in which part (including D Company) of the Battalion is heavily engaged in the Walcheren operations'. I wonder if anyone else has a copy of the diary from that period before it went missing? Thank you.
