Hi, My father has mentioned that his grandfather was a bandmaster in the manchester regiment. He has thought he was in the 9th territorials. He says that he may have it wrong and that he was actually just in the band!
His name is Samuel Holt, Born 1864 in Ashton. Lived 36 Victoria St, 30 Dean St, 228 Park St, 221 Park St, 75 Margaret St Ashton U Lyne.
Can anyone help?

i will post this in the general section and see if we can find out anything

he would have to have been in the 9th battalion to be in the band but as the 9th were only formed in 1908, he would have been an old bandsman!
