Title: WILLIAM BATCHEN DUNN

I am looking for information on 18/11102 Pte William Batchen DUNN. 
He joined the 18th Manchesters in WWI.
He went on to serve in the Royal Defence Corps (No. 81019).
He came from the North of Scotland originally.
He survived the War and lived in Catton, Lancaster.

Any help appreciated.  (I have the CD with all the photos in).

andy[kingo] may have some info for you phil,hes been compiling as much as he can about those who originally served in the 18th batt.
do you have any idea which area of manchester he was living in at the time.

Hi Phil
        As, thankfully William survived the war it makes it harder to track his progress through it !.
My best guess is, as he was E company he was probably sent out as a battle casualty replacement for the early losses in 1916. He doesn't appear on the medal roll (the date the battalion landed in France 18/11/1915). The fact that he later served with the RDC would suggest that he was wounded and no longer fit to serve overseas. as Harribobs says, if you download his medal card it should give you the date he arrived in France.

WB Dunn's date of arrival in theatre on the MIC is 9/11/15. Perhaps he was in the advance party!
