well Chris , my grandad was in underage he joined up 13-4-1915  birkenhead with the 3rd Cheshire reg  25926 embarked 21-11-1915  for salonica it was around this time his mother got on to the army about him being underage,
she was asked to send his birth certificate for proof of age, she wrote back saying she could not afford the cost of one @ 3 shillings and 7 pence.
he was discharged 2-6-1916 he was awarded the 14-15 star and signed for it in 1920,
he  signed up for the Manchester's in 1916  and shipped, out later that year, regarding his medals  would  the   1914-15 star have the Cheshire's on it and his victory
and war medal the Manchester's ?  he joined the Devon's in 1919 , i have managed to find all the documents and letters regarding his discharge from ancestry  military  pensions  search  [a pal on 1914-18 site forum] but nothing on the manchesters,
if you would like any copies  only to happy to post, some 20 pages. a very happy tony

do you mean the memo in two parts?

the left side seems to be a request for his birth cert.

madam
re your letter to this office relating to your sons discharge as being underage. please attach his birth cert to this form and return it to this office as soon as possible. same being necessary before anything further can be done for you

Sir, sorry i could not answer this form(e) before know (now) as i could not pay 3/7 (three shillings 7 pence) for my sons birth certificate and i had to send to Somerset House and i have only got an answer back ( then i'm not sure) Sir my as(has?) enlisted in his first name only (???)  please answer as soon as possible, Oblige
