Title: Herbert Colley
Post by: foyboy2456 on April 29, 2016, 10:01:08 AM
Hi I am trying to find out more about a relative called Herbert Colley 33232, he joined the Manchester regiment in 1908. I believe he was in the GW as he has a medal card which I haven't accessed yet. He was invalided out of the GW but I don't know the reason why? As this is the info I cannot find, if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful..

Kind regards

John Foy

Hi John, this is all I could find - it appears that neither his service or pension record survived the WW2 blitz:

Private 33232 Herbert Colley
Enlisted 11.12.15
16th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment
Medal entitlement: British War and Victory Medals (meaning he first served overseas after 1st January 1916)
Discharged 01.06.18
Silver War Badge no: 395897 (indicating he was medically discharged as wounded or sick)

Hope this helps

Regards
Pete
