Hi once again I am looking for information on my Grandad's service during WW2. His name was Willian Joseph Cunningham and he was born in 1909. My Dad has told me that he served in the Manchester Regiment and became part of the Commandos during WW2. He says he had a silver dagger on a green beret with No2 Commando on his arm. He also had a red and black badge with an anchor and gun on his arm too.
Sadly we do not have his Service Number. Dad said he trained in Scotland, and went to Italy and Burma.
I have seen his name on a posting on this site from back in 2013. He is No 5 on the list and it gives his unit number and also his rank of CPL plus that he was awarded the MM.

If anyone can help I would be very thankful.

I see you made the same request here in 2007, 8 years ago.

Have you followed the advice you were given then and applied for his service record from the MOD?

They will have it, you are entitled to apply for it.

He was nothing to do with the Navy, he was an Army Commando.
