Hi Everyone

I'm Johnno's niece, Frederick Johnson is my gr-grandfather, I've been doing my family tree for a very long time, and I've been trying to find his service records via ancestry without much sucess. I'll tell you all I know about him:

Frederick Johnson (no middle names) was born 24 May 1894 in Bradford, Manchester to John and Margaret Johnson.

1901 census - 84 Bell St, Openshaw, Manchester

1911 census - 26 Hewitt St, Openshaw, Manchester - occupation vanboy

9 Jan 1915 he married Maud Annie Gore at St Marks, Gorton, the address on the marriage certificate is 5 Gladstone St, Manchester (I'm assuming that address is around Gorton/Openshaw/Ardwick) His occupation was Soldier.

20 Jan 1916 he had a son James Arthur, so he must've still been around Manchester in April/May of 1915 (take a guess how I figured that out!  :P)

There's a 6 year gap then to their next son being born in 1922. I assume he was posted out somewhere.

That info help any?

Jane  :)

Hi, he is at 26 Hewitt street on the 1918 absent voters list:

freadrick Johnson  Pte 3402. 6th Battalion King's R. Lanc
Also at that address.
George Johnson Pte 11706. 6th Battalion King's R Lanc

If you know who George was, could you let me know who he married and if any children? I have a George Johnson in my family line.

Also if the address given for both Fredrick and Maud was the same street on there marriage certificate, this would i think have been Maud's home parish and to save money people would put one address to save having bands of marriage read in both churches. Or some time know as an address of convenience.

You've found Frederick, fantastic, and not in the Manchesters!, George is his brother, he also had another brother John William, I've attached his medal cards. My nana seems to think George married someone called Grace, thats all I know on him really, Johnno might know more.

Maud's address on the marriage certificate is either 1581 Jackson St, or 15 Gt Jackson St.
