CSM Arthur Stafford 1st Bn - FEPOW

While looking for information on a Pioneer Corps FEPOW, I found that 12522 CSM Arthur Aloysius Stafford was his Detachment/Block leader. Has anyone any further information on CSM Stafford please? I have CSM Stafford's release questionaire. I note that his medals are in the Regtl Museum collection.

This is what I know about CSM Stafford:
Born 23.12.1899
Served in WW1 as 62675, Pte, Manchester Regt.
Enlisted 02.06.1924 having served 5yrs and 216 days previously
Transferred to the Sarawak Rangers 31.08.1941
Captured Kuchinq, Sarawak, 24.12.1941
Held at Kuchinq 24.12.1941 - 26.02.1942 and 11.10.1942 - 09.09.1945
Held at Seqria, Brunei, 26.02.1942 - 08.10.1942

He was awarded the following medals:

BWM & VM (62675 MR)
1939/45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence and War Medals
GSM 1918-62 bar Palastine (Sgt 12522)
LSGC (Sgt 12522)

What puzzles me is that the museum give his number as 12522 on the GSM & LSGC, the number is also on his release questionaire I would have expected him to have a 7 digit number.
