Title: mystery place of death

pte 6108 Frederick,charles fielding
2nd manchesters
5 broome st,bolton
boer war veteran with 16yrs service
died 13th november 1914 cause unknown
aged 41
fred is buried in aval wood military cemetery
this cemetery wasnt started until 1918,graves were added to it later from the surrounding battlefields
its obvious that fred was one of these exhumations,but how did he end up so far away from his battalion in a battlefield grave

Hi Mack,
Fred was originally buried near Estaires on the north bank of the Meuse.  I assume this fits better with 2nd Bttn location in 1914.
I have seen Somme casualties moved to distant location and assumed Aval Wood was the current concentration location when he was relocated in Oct 1919.
