Montauban Sucrerie / Briqueterie
« on: December 06, 2017, 11:56:09 AM »
I thought I'd share my recent German postcard purchase of the Sucrerie when it was still standing in 1915 and a rather secure looking German infantryman was standing next to it.
It was looked upon by men of the Manchesters from Sept 1915 - June 1916 and there was little left when the King's Liverpools took this German strongpoint on 1st July 1916.  The site was never reclaimed for farmland due to the presence of munitions and it is now an over grown waste land near the crossroads west of the village.
Following one Platoon and everything around them....
