Regarding the 1st photo it doesnt add up.

The 6th September 1912 was a Friday so thats correct  BUT  the 16th Manchesters didnt exist until the start of WW1, 2 years later?

Timberman,

Thanks again.   My last para. was an indication that I was still researching, but under the letter "T".   The advice that the item was at Larkhill was interesting.   I presume that the British Army is coming home and with the need for greater accommodation, items of historical interest will continue to surface.       I wonder what material will surface when the building of a tunnel at Stonehenge commences ?     PhilipG.

Hi Sphinx hence my reference to "struggling with dates" in my first post. It doesn't ring true, the heavier hand may indicate it is unrelated, but the style suggests it may be! It's on a cupboard door along with other WW1 nationalities. It is likely that the cupboard is in its original position.

Where is this cupboard?   Pretty mature woodworm are munching it so don't place it anywhere else unless you treat it.
Following one Platoon and everything around them....

The date looks to be unrelated. In my opinion it has been written with a different pencil and the S in Sept in reply 12 is different to the S in Smith in reply 13.
