The late Jim O Carroll

Jim O Carroll,formerly of Ashton u Lyne passed away at Preston Royal Hospital on Wed 17/02/16.Jim served in Malaya with the mortar pl and on amalgamation with the Kings Regiment was eventually promoted to RQMS of the battalion.Jim was the son of a Manchester Regiment senior NCO Danny ?? O Carroll,Jim was one of the founder members of the Preston Branch of the Association and was secretary for a number of years.
A sad loss to the Regimental Family

Thanks Roy for that sad news. 
Jim was a fine example of that team of splendid mortarmen in Malaya and will not be forgotten.  He was  a true regimental soldier.
