East Lancs Branch WFA meeting - 23rd April
« on: April 22, 2008, 02:38:23 PM »
As I've been out of the country (yeah, grave-robbing again!) for the past few weeks, i've left it a bit late with advertising, but, just to let you know if anyone's interested that the next meeting of the new East lancs branch of the WFA takes place tomorrow night (Wed., 23rd April) from 7.30pm at Nelson House, Nelson Square, Burnley. It's a Masonic Lodge, but all the funny business takes place upstairs, whereas we're downstairs and safe ;D

Being the 90th anniversary of Operation ZO, the subject of the night (speaker is Stephen McGreal ,by the way, author of the new Battleground europe book "Zeebrugge & Ostend Raids") is , unsurprisingly, Zeebrugge and Ostend Raids, 1918.

pretty well, Chris.

A small, but responsive crowd (the "small" possibly being due to my administrative cock-up of only advertising the event and arranging a speaker a couple of days before it!). Steve McGreal's talk was excellent - I (and , I think, the other attendees) thoroughly enjoyed it. I even learned one or two things!!! ;D

My main aim of the evening was also attained - a bit of branch stability as regards venues and meetings, etc... now to be held at the same venue as above on the second Wednesday of every second month. Next meeting June 11th.
