Urgent help needed, I am doing the Manchester Regiment in re-enactment,I have a world war two battledress depicting the 1st Manchester who linked up with the Welsh regiment at tournhout in Switzerland, I would like to know, would a black beret or general service cap been worn, also would a green diamond been worn under the cap badge on the beret or cap.
Regards
Martin

Hi again Martin,
Having done a further investigation to the "The Reformed 1st Bn." 1944 - "The Bn landed at Arromanches on the 26th June, D Day + 20. as the Machine Gun Support Battalion of 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division."
There is no apparent connection to the Welch Regiment!!

With all due respect - may I enquire - How does  a reference to tournhout in Switzerland come into this picture .
George.

Tournhout is actually in Belgium.

Yes indeed Sphinx,
My problem was that I remembered two other similar enquiries, one back in 2010 Jan 15th and one earlier this year July 29th 2014 also referring to the Welch Regiment .
I may be ancient but most of my marbles are like the Guardsman's Rifle - Clean, Bright, and Slightly Oiled.
 ;D  ;D ;D
Cheers, George.

George,

Maybe his queery has to do with the fact that the 1st Bn. Manchester Regiment were with lots of Welsh Bn.'s in 1944 and 1945 as both were in the 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division.

Doesnt look like he will revisit anyway.
