Hi,

I am trying to find some information on my grandad Jack Adams (1923-1979)

I know he was in the army, i think it may have been this regiment because on his marriage certificate he lived on Waggon Road in Mossley in 1943.

On the marriage certificate it say's

Craftman 14247485 R.E.M.E (baron)

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi Shermain

and welcome to the group

although i'm afraid we won't be able to help you a great deal maybe i can point you in the right direction, he wasn't in the Manchester Regiment, he was in the The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME)

you may get a lot more information that i can give you from this site http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/index.htm

His service records have not been made public but you can get a copy of them from the MOD in Glasgow, this site will give you details of how to apply for them

cheers

Hi Shermain and a Warm Welcome to The Forum  ;D

I think harribobs is right your main port of call should be via the Veterans link he gave you.  It's a bit of paperwork but will enlighten !!!
