Sunday 11th November Parade
« on: November 04, 2007, 09:38:13 PM »
Hi.
After finally replacing my G/Fs medals, 1914/18, I would very much like to join in the Parade at M/C on Sunday 11th Nov, and take his medals once more round the route and the ceromony at the centaph.
Can you give me advice on who to conatct at the parade,
Anthony  W lyons. Grandson of below

Anthony.

Get up early on Sunday morning and get to St Peter's Square well before 11 am.  There you will find the Manchester Regiment Old Comrades, complete with their green and gold flag.  Report to Captain John Frith.  I will try and warn him beforehand.  I'm told that you should ignore the barriers and just walk straight through to where they are assembling.

Good luck.

Anthony.
A slight adjustment to my original reply.

You enquired as to where the Manchester Branch of the Association are to form up prior to marching onto St Peter’s Square for the Remembrance Service.  They will form up outside the Free Trade Hall, Peter Street, just after 1000 hrs on Sunday.  You should report to Captain John Frith (look for the King’s or Manchester Regiment standards) who will be leading the Branch contingent.  I have already spoken to John and you  will be most welcome to join them.

This year, the Manchester Branches of all the antecedent Regiments of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment will form as one body of men for the Parade.  Currently there are 53 units on Parade (of various descriptions, from boy scouts to a Polish Regt Assn) supported by 3 bands.

Get your boots well and truly polished.
