im just doing some reserch and its a bit of a long shot but dose any one have any info on pte Robert Whelan 23288 sorry thats all i have just seeing if he matchs up with someone in my tree

Paul,

You're rather fortunate because Robert's Service Record is on line.  Most were burned in the Blitz.  His father, Thomas lived at Percy Street, Pendleton. 

If you don't subscribe to Ancestry, take a trip to the library and use one of their PCs for free.  It's prob. best for you to see for yourself, because there is a lot of information to digest that may correlate with your other records.  I would also find it most interesting that way.  If you have specific questions no doubt the forum can help though.

I have looked at that record about six months ago and ruled it out.

how meny Whelan's were there in the Manchester's during ww1?

wow as little as that i thought there may have been more going of how meny whelan familys there was in manchester at that time. i dont surpose there is a list    :D
