Hi Tony,

I have around 200,000 war grave and memorial photos which i am only to happy to share with the forum. I have some from South Africa, Australia, Canada France, Germany and of course the UK. If you could send me a list of the cemeteries you still need i will see if i have it.

One of my research things is collecting photos of all war graves so if you feel like you can help with my collection please contact me for a list of war graves in your area. If someone from one of the forums i belong to or from one of the family history groups i belong to need a photo i have then i email them a copy for free, i would never charge, unlike some websites on the net.

Please do send me your list of cemeteries that you still need photos from and i will hopefully be able to help you.

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike

Thanks for the offer

Sadly Toni no longer does the grave site for the forum.
You can see it here

 https://www.flickr.com/photos/74178729@N00/

This will show you what photos we have and the cemeteries that
are covered.

If you PM Harribobs, he can help you.

Hi Timberman,

Just had a look at the war graves page. Very hard to find a particular cemetery but nicely done. I will contact the other member to see what i can do to help as i am sure i will be of some use, hopefully.

Regards

Mike

Hi Wendi,

It might be an idea to have a pinned thread listing all the cemeteries/memorials throughout the world that hold Manchester Regt lads. Using a colour coding system you could say use blue to say you have all the photos from that cemetery/memorial. If its in black you still require the photos. I have an Excel spreadsheet which lists every British casualty from both World Wars in every country except Belgium, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. But these are easily obtainable from the CWGC. I could certainly sort out from my DS a list of cemeteries that hold your men.

Do you have someone who holds a master copy of the photos? If not it maybe an idea to have someone do this. I have around 200,000 photos of war graves and memorials from all over the world and i would be happy to add what Manchester Regt lads i have to the collection, but to go through all those photos would be hugely time consuming to find a particular cemetery/memorial.

I used to be a coordinator for a major war graves photographic project until they started charging for the photos. One of the directives from the top was, we had to find websites like this and copy any war graves on it and then they could charge for the photos, hence i left. A way you could get round this is to        take down your photos and have a request thread which would be a job for one of your admins.

Mike

Hi Mike

Everything on this forum and the main site is given freely by the members
that's pictures and information, to be used by anyone (acknowledgement to
Manchester's.org  is nice)  :)
The idea is to keep the memory of the Manchester's
alive.
If people want to pinch our work and make a profit out of it I hope
they can sleep at night.

I do understand what your saying but it's not the way of this forum.

I understand that Timberman, thats fine. But may i still suggest a list of cemeteries/memorials on a pinned thread that have Manchester Regt lads buried in them and using the colour coding system. This would show at a quick glance of what you have and what you don't have. I would only be to pleased to sort that out for you.

Regards
Mike

ps. oh they do sleep soundly in their beds, with the noise of pound coins going into the bank account. Costs £3 for an emailed photo that was taken by a volunteer or stolen from a site.
