22nd Battalion info
« on: October 21, 2010, 10:39:32 AM »
Here is a website dedicated to Lt. W E Gomersall, 22nd Bn.

Amongst some fascinating personal items are his letters home, dated from November 1915 until 30-6-1916 (the day before he was kia), which practically amount to a war diary.

Well worth a visit.

This Eastertide call into mind the men,
Now far from home, who, with their sweethearts, should
Have gathered them and will do never again.

I've been contacted by the son of Captain Cowan, who wrote the letter to the Gomersall family. Hopefully, he's managed to contact the living relatives.

.....he did manage to contact the relatives. There is now a photo of Captain Cowan on the site.
