Hello chaps.
Could anyone help regarding the service of 9417 Cpl William Unsworth,  9th Bnt Lancashire Fusiliers who was Killed in action 21/08/1915, aged 33. Prior to enlisting with the Lancs I believe he served with the Manchester Regiment in South Africa. His Spouse was Bella Unsworth 65 West Dixon St, Salford.

Hi Johno, these are the olny bits i could find on him.

Click here for his medal card

William F Unsworth Married Bella Roberts 1904 at St Bartholomew, Salford.

I think William, his wife Bella and there son & daughter were living at 104 Sunnyside street, Salford 1911

Also there is a Robert Unsworth and family living at 37 West Dixon street Salford 1911, could this be Williams brother?

Now the bit of the CWGC site regarding him in the Manchester regiment ( Click here for the CWGC page  ) I don't think he was in the Manchester, but i have found that many people and websites class Salford as a district of Manchester and not a city in it's own right. Hence the Salford , and then Manchester.
Now i did find a W Unsworth in the Lancashire fusiliers but very little details on him.
Name:
W UNSWORTH
Private: 4781
5th Battalion The Lancashire Fusiliers
Notes:
The Queen's South Africa (QSA) Medal Clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902

If the Robert Unsworth at the 37 West Dixon  street was his brother, then this is his medal card.
Click for Robert's Medal card

This is from the 1918 absent voters list for 37 West Dixon street:
Robert Unsworth
Sgt 55942
296 company Rly. Trp
Royal Engineers.

Thanks for the help Chaps, I will pass this information on to a pal of mine who has wrote a song about William, He has quite a bit of stuff on him already, including letters he sent home to his wife and children. Thanks Chaps.
