Hi
My husband's grandfather Henry Leslie Birchall is 5th from the left on the 4th row.
Henry enlisted on the 9th of September 1914 at the Albert hall, Manchester,  Embarked  7/11/1915 from Southampton on the ss queen Alexandra.He served in France as a private from 7th November 1915 until he was taken prisoner on July 23rd 1916.  Casualty form, 23rd July 1916 mining, confirmed by German government .. He was sent to cologne hospital for treatment of abscesses on the eyes caused by work in mines march 1917. Discharged July 1917, he was also in hospital in simburg for kidney troubles .He received the Victory medal, British medal and 1915 star.

PS We (probably mack) found info regarding your OH's grandfather and it is on our PoW database on our main site, much the same as you have written.
