Lighting the Candle - Wednesday 17th March 2010 at 1245.

The next Turning of the Leaves Ceremony will be held in the Regimental Chapel, Manchester Cathedral, on Wednesday 17th March.  At the end of the ceremony a candle will be lit for the soldiers of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment who are deployed in Afghanistan.  The candle will remain lit until the soldiers return in October/November this year.

I anticipate that the candle will be placed on the magnificent oak candlestick   presented by the 16th (Pals) Battalion in memory of their commanding officer - Wilfrith Elstob.

Members and friends of the forum are most welcome to attend and should go directly into the chapel rather than sit in the body of the cathedral.
