on 4th june 1915,the 6th manchesters launched their attack on the turkish trenches,sidney heydon and his two brothers,frank+arthur went over the top togethor,arthur fell wounded but frank and sidney carried on and reached the turks 1st line trench where frank was wounded in the arm,after bandaging his brother,sidney carried on to the next trench and frank didnt see him again,frank+arthur were later put aboard the hospital ship,while on board,frank was told by another man that he was with sidney in the turks 3rd line trench,and that sidney had helped to bandage him up,but he didnt see him after that.

sidney[known as cider]was a england international lacrosse player,he was also a member of the north of england+cheshire teams,honourary secretary and treasurer of the county lacrosse association
educated at st.thomas school and stockport commercial school
both arthur+frank were later granted commissions,arthur in the 6th manchesters and frank in the lancs fusiliers
