27th november 1914.neuve chapelle
after our artillery barrage stopped,capt creagh sent out two parties of men from C.coy,each consisting of 10 men,we were to reconnoitre the german sniping ditch on their right front which was 60yds away,as we moved forward,we were fired at from their trenches,we reached a 60yd stretch of their trench that was unmanned,but the germans began bombing us,col/sgt wilson and two others were wounded,we retreated back to our lines,bringing our wounded back with us,col/sgt wilson died in hospital at bolougne three days later.
col/sgt wilson was awarded the DCM for his actions on the 27th november
