Is there a way of checking whether there was a William Holland in the Manchesters?
He was born in 1900 and lived in Wigley St,Ardwick. My mother remembers seeing a photo of him in uniform, but nothing else is known.

Cheers

There were around half a dozen William or W. Hollands in the manchesters in WW1.
I think you may need his service number to be sure.

OK. I don't have anything else on his war service. I'll have to wait until the records come online and hope his have survived.

He did survive the war, but no mention of him in the pension records.

No, I'm down in Dorset and, due to my wife's ill health, I can't travel.

Just a thought, as he was born in 1900 he shouldn't have joined up until later in the war.
Looking at the MICs, there are only 2 with 6 digit numbers, which, I believe, were introduced half way through. Plus one W Holland.

Does that make sense?
