William Shone 11th Battlion
« on: July 26, 2009, 08:08:37 PM »
Hi my great uncle was William Shone born 21st July 1897 in Manchester his faher was William and his Mother Mary Catherine (nee Whitehead).
As far as I can find out he initially joined the Manchester regt and then for some unknown reason around 1917 he was in the 9th Battlion Northumberland Fusiliers. he was killed near Arras 23rd March 1918.

I have been trying to find any regimental photos of the 11th Battlion in the hope he may be featured on them. His initial service number was 11/3285

I have contacted the regt museum and Thameside library but have no yet turned up any pictures nor have I discovered why he changed regiments

any help appreciated
