Can anyone provide any information on Albert Smith of Nottingham, he was my uncle married to Edna (nee Wheatcroft) one of my fathers sisters, I know that he served as a regular in India before WW11 and was on reserve at the outbreak of war and subsequently called up. The only info I have is that he was in a machine gun section of the Manchesters and was involved in the rearguard action prior to Dunkirk, was captured and sent to a POW camp in Poland via forced march and cattle truck. He tried to escape on 3 occasions unsuccessfully and remained a prisoner for the duration.
