William Henry Bates
« on: February 13, 2009, 11:12:11 PM »
Private William Henry Bates (2202) was a Special Reservist in the Manchester Regiment

He signed up on 4/2/1914, he was in France from 4/1/15 to 16/3/15

Would anyone be so kind as to let me know what battalion he would have been with and what happened to them between the above dates.

Many thanks,

Tommo67

hi Tommo-welcome to the forum-His service records  say he was with 3 Platoon, A company, 2nd Battalion. They are quite extensive-so if you would like a copy-let me know. I will be around tomorrow afternoon.

A couple of questions.

I cannot find his name on the medal index roll although his papers say he received 3 medals?

Is is possible to find out who might have his medals now?

Is it possible to find out more about his injuries leading to discharge?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to all this.

Many thanks.
