Ta for ur info and wishes (my dad also served in the British Army - Suez region)......hope to keep digging for more info on Richard....it gets u really interested once you get some info to go on with....and also to get a personal glimps as to what these fellas had to go through...

Mack....just to clarify was Richards NOK listed as his mother who's name was listed as Clara on the info when sent the Victory medal to Park St??

its hard to read,it looks like mother,but its quite faded,it was mentioned in his description on enlistment details

if you are both looking at ancestry, open the record up to 100% before you look/download it

and let the rest of us see it as well 8)

Chris/Mack...this is all i have from ancestry re Richards enlistment......plus his medal index...still trying to find out info from the medal rolls to ascertain his whereabouts etc while serving in france (battles etc)....i also have records relevant to his discharge ....cant find anything with his NOK mentioned on any of the material I have.

Hi Chris & Mack......just touching base about Richard Hyde's Medal Index info and any luck in interpreting the info from his medal index via the medal rolls....or if you could possibly point me in the right direction to get  my hands on this info? What is it i need to do to interpret this info from the roll if i get access to to them and how do i look this info up!! I am very keen to drill down to his activities while in France etc.

Thanks for the info 'themonsstar'. You blokes are very resourceful and a appareciate all your help. Is this the info from off the Medal rolls?? Any ideas on how i would find out the dates he served with each Bn.??....this may help me find out where in France he served and battles/actions he was involved in??
